As a special guest of the Los Angeles Philharmonic's Principal Concertmaster, Martin Chalifour, and The Sonus Quartet, Steve performed in a series of chamber music concerts in Walt Disney Concert Hall. He has now made a home in Los Angeles, enjoying the unique musical opportunities available in America's entertainment capital. Performances in 2006 include collaborations with a diverse cast of renowned artists including Jeff Beck, Clay Aiken, Mos Def, and Common. Steve also serves as the Principal Double Bass for the critically acclaimed Dakah Hip-Hop Orchestra, performing at the South by Southwest Music Festival (Austin, TX) and JazzFest (New Orleans, LA) in 2005. Other orchestral engagements have included the Long Beach Symphony, and the Chamber Orchestra of the South Bay. As a recording artist and performer, Steve regularly collaborates with Grammy Award winning Composers, Michael Jay (Celine Dion), and Dillon O’Brian (My Name is Earl, Bonnie Raitt). Additionally, Steve has collaborated with drummer/percussionist Butch (The Eels), bassist Chris Chenney (Jane’s Addiction), guitarist Don Kirpatrick (Rod Stewart) and producer Peter Malick (Norah Jones). Steve's talents can also be heard on the latest 30 Seconds to Mars album, A Beautiful Lie (Virgin Records), produced by Josh Abraham, as well as the latest film from director James Cameron, Aliens of the Deep (scored by Jeehun Hwuang and contracted by Debbie Datz). In addition, Steve serves as a session bassist at the Interscope record label. Steve was proud to perform the classic "Georgia On My Mind" in the Academy Award winning film Ray, starring Jamie Foxx. As a country performer, Steve recently completed an American tour RCA recording artist, Christian Kane, which included a critically acclaimed performance at the Country Thunder Music Festival, where he shared the stage with Brooks and Dunn and Big and Rich. In addition, he has contributed his talents to award winning artists Enrique Iglesias, The Backstreet Boys, Limp Bizkit, while performing on numerous film and television soundtracks. Steve continues to practice his more classical work through regular engagements in La Jolla's Athenaeum Performing Arts Library and Mexico's Centro Cultural as Solo Bassist of the Vanishing Borders Concerts Series. |
