YULIYA BASIS
Piano

Born in Orel, Russia, to a family of professional musicians, and started taking piano lessons at the age of 6. While studying at Kalinnikoff Specialized School for Gifted Children, she won high prizes in piano, music theory, and music history competitions. In 1990, Ms. Basis entered the Academic College under Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, and in 1994, the Conservatory, where she studied with Professor Victor Merzhanov (piano), Professor Tatiana Gaidamovich (chamber ensemble), and Professor Natalia Gureeva (accompanying skills). She earned her Master's Degree and Diploma of Excellence in May 1999, and emigrated to the United States shortly afterwards. Since then, she has appeared as a soloist, accompanist, and chamber music player with the "Metamorphosis" Orchestra, at the Merkin Concert Hall, CAMI Hall, New York State Theatre, as well as at summer festivals and master classes. She has also performed chamber music in Taiwan, Russia, and Ukraine.
