ERICA TANNEN
Soprano

Russian born lyric-coloratura soprano Ms. Erica Tannen started her music education of the age of five. She studied musicology and piano at the St. Petersburg Conservatory in Russia. After Ms. Tannen emigrated with her family to Israel, she continued her studies at the Rubin Academy in Tel Aviv, majoring in voice. Among her teachers where Ms. Patricia Brinton (Paris), Ms. Heather Harper and Professor Adler from Julliard. After winning the National Voice Competition in Israel, she received a special scholarship from the Ministry of Culture and went to Austria to continue her studies.

Her extensive background includes performances under the distinguish baton of Zubin Mehta and Leonard Bernstein, recording with the Austrian Radio Network, and the Israeli Broadcasting Network. Ms. Tannen has performed in Israel, Europe and United States, making her American debut with a recital at Carnegie Hall. Zubin Mehta said that “Ms. Tannen possesses a high sense of drama, beautiful voice and excellent musicianship” and Peter Davis of the New York Times noted that she is “a singer with a beautiful voice and considerable technical polish. Each piece could scarcely be more artfully done."

Currently Ms. Tannen resides in Los Angeles, California. She is also the Founder and Artistic Director of the Bel Canto Symphony Orchestra Foundation Inc.
